Washington Law Review
Abstract
Naturally, we will focus a great deal at this gathering on the recently adopted U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Convention), a truly significant accomplishment for the international community and a great source of hope for people everywhere with disabilities. But between adopting the Convention and actually securing the important rights it guarantees lies a long and tortuous path that will test the commitment, tenacity, and political will of the international community—from national leaders to grassroots advocacy organizations to individual citizens bent upon justice for all.
